Cathy (Carney) Muller was born on May 9, 1948 in Redford, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. She was raised and went to Catholic school there. After meeting Bob at a GM ski club party, they got married in 1974 and moved to Denver, Colorado where they lived until moving to Columbia in 1981 with their 1 year old son Bryan. Spurred by Bob’s Mom, a very active UU in Freeport, NY, Cathy and Bob became members of UUCC in 1988. In 1990, Cathy started her 17 year career as the Director of Religious Education working under several full time and interim ministers until she retired in 2007. Besides cultivating and managing the growth of the RE program at UUCC, Cathy was also on the Executive Board of the National Association of Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) where she served as treasurer. Cathy died on November 17, 2010 as a result of a fall while doing her favorite activity, horseback riding. Cathy is survived by her husband Bob, son Bryan and daughter in law Jen, and their grandson Andrew Carney Muller.
