Heather Zoller-Gritz

Heather Adair Zoller-Gritz, 42, passed away Saturday (Sept. 17, 2011) after a short, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by family and friends.

The daughter of Jim and Lynne Zoller, she was born on April 29, 1969, in Marietta. She has one sister, Jennifer Farmer, of Amanda, Ohio.

She graduated from Marietta High School in 1987, Marietta College in 1991, and completed her master's degree at Ohio University in 1993.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 11 years, R. Scott Zoller-Gritz and daughters, Abigail (Abby), 10 and Eleanor (Ellie), 8. In addition to her membership at Christ United Methodist Church (Columbia, Md.), she was active in the Wheatfield Women's Association, Mid Maryland Triathlon Club, the Ullman Cancer Fund 24 Hours of Booty organizing committee and co-led her daughter's Girl Scout troop.

Heather began her career at Marietta College, and continued in student services at Ohio Wesleyan and Kent State as a Residence Hall director. For the past 13 years, she was a Certified Project Manager for Arbitron Inc., Columbia, Md.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Geneva Zoller and Ayward and Gloria Scarbro.

Heather was an accomplished Iron Girl triathlete, and completed several sprint triathlons as well as a half marathon. She was a fixture in all her girls' activities, including the youth program at her church. She loved to cook and make cards and jewelry.

Her leadership, smile, faith, sense of humor, and intelligence are sadly missed.
