Ed grew up in Shelby, NC with his parents, brother and sister. After attending UNC he served in the Army Security Agency falling in love with computer programming. His additional training with NSA as a data systems programmer took him to many overseas assignments in Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. He retired after 31 years and married Gail Marjarum. They travelled many years by motorhome throughout the US and Canada. He found his church home at UUCC. Ed loved to tell stories of his adventures, frequently attracting crowds around him to listen at church, in malls and hospital corridors. He lived from 1937 to 2008.
